Storm Home is a collection of songs written by friends of Humble Walk Lutheran Church. For the most part, we operate under an artist-in-residence model. Artists (in this case, musicians) come and lead art (in this case, music) in our community for a week, a month, or a season. Most of the songs on this compilation are original works that were commissioned by Humble Walk over the past few years. The commissioning of these works was made possible through a generous grant from Saint Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, Minnesota.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the making of this album, especially Steve Seilhymer, Heather & Jess Olson, Christus Victor Lutheran Church, Pastor Nadia Bolz-Weber, Gordy & Nancy from Augustana, River of Hope Lutheran Church (Hutchinson, MN), Luther Seminary, and Peter Hanson, Pastoral Nomad.
The Humble Walk Songbook is coming soon. Download the sounds now, leave us a note, and we'll let you know when it's available.
For a word on how we came up with the title, check out this blog entry by Pastor-in-residence Jodi Houge:
The Humble Walk Chancel Choir is:
Justin Rimbo, Nate Houge, Jodi Houge, Heather Olson, Jess Olson, Erin DeBoer-Moran, Ben Koehler, Catrina Ciccone, and Michael Morris. Hover over each track and click "info" to read detailed liner notes about all the talented musicians who added their gifts to this production.
Enjoy these songs. Sing them with your friends. But support the artists that wrote them, too. Seek them out, and beg them to come play in your community. Keep Church weird.
